History

No matter where in Quintaria you are, all races the same origin story of this world. 

A land of innocence has no need of Gods, until Fate intervenes. 

Once there was young Human couple, who took their child to the beach. In a unsupervised moment, the child swam too far, in the shark infested waters. Shark were already coming when the couple saw their child in so far in the water. The Human parents ran as hard as they could, but they knew they would be able to save their child.  In a moment of desperation, they fell down to their knees and prayed to heavens for someone, something, to save their child.

Out of the sky, a hand appeared that hoisted the child to safety. A voice called out the couple: 

"I am Ao, and I heard your plea. Pray to me and I while help you." 

This is the arrival of Lord Ao, the Overgod. He loved the people and the people loved Lord Ao. In time, Lord Ao started to love the world he was summoned to, its meadows, its waters, its people and its creatures. Lord Ao bound himself to Quintaria and Quintaria reacted in kind, by giving him access to mana, the energies of the world. With access to this mana, Lord Ao could remake the world as he saw fit, but he did not abuse this power,, as he liked its people and its nature.

But, Lord Ao grew lonely. While he loved his people, they came and went, they were only mortal. Lord Ao wanted companions that stayed with him. So he reached out to the Void and called forth the 5 Major gods.

For a while, everyone was happy, Lord Ao, his new gods, the people, the world and nature, all living beings in balance and harmony.

But these Major Gods saw the powers Lord Ao wielded and coveted it for themselves. They wanted access to mana, but Lord Ao either could not, or would not grant them access.
In secret, the 5 Major Gods summoned 5 Minor Gods and convened to make a plan; to force the Overgod to give up his mana, or dispose of him.

So the Battle of the Gods began. For 50 nights and 50 days the heavens trembled and flashed, until the Overgod was struck down. In his dying breath, Lord Ao cursed the Major and Minor Gods, each gained access to the mana they so coveted, but they would only control a splinter, a single colour.

When Lord Ao struck the world, it split into the six regions we now know today, the energies released changed its inhabitant humans and bound the gods:

• Islands
  • inhabited by Vedalken and Simic Hybrids
  • ruled by the Major God Ioun and the Minor God Melora
• Swamps
  • inhabited by Vryloka and Drow
  • ruled by the Major God the Raven Queen and the Minor God Lolth
• Mountains, 
  • Inhabited by Minotaurs and Viashino
  • ruled by the Major God Kord and the Minor God Asmodeus
• Forests,
  • inhabited by Centaur and Squirrel-folk
  • ruled by the Major God Corellon and the Minor God Sehanine
• The Great Crater, now know as Ravnica, City of Guilds.
  • inhabited by Kobolds and the only remaining Humans
  • ruled by no gods, but by 10 Guilds forced into balance by the Guildpact;
